Fire & Arson Investigations

The Fire & Arson Investigations Unit is responsible for investigating all fire, arson, and explosion incidents within the City of Portland. Our fire investigators are certified through the State of Tennessee and the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) and are sworn law enforcement officers.

When the cause of a fire is determined to be criminal in nature, Portland Fire & Arson investigators conduct the criminal investigation and pursue arrests of the responsible individual(s). The Fire & Arson Investigations Unit is also available to assist neighboring jurisdictions with origin and cause investigations upon request.

Contact the Tennessee Arson Hotline to report information on an arson. Information that leads to the successful arrest and conviction of an arsonist can result in a reward of up to $5,000.
