Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Portland Police Department to provide safety and security to all of the citizens, industries, and retail establishments residing within our jurisdiction, as well as those who visit our city as a result of their vocation, or recreation. We will utilize a mixture of aggressive enforcement and community-oriented policing to provide an atmosphere of open communication and cooperation with our citizens. Our members will exemplify honesty, integrity, and sound judgment in the pursuit of improving the quality of life in our city.

The Sumner County Emergency Communications Center (ECC Dispatch) is the primary answering point for all 911 emergency calls in Sumner County and is responsible for the dispatching of police, fire, and EMS field resources.

Citations: Portland Municipal Court is held on most Thursdays, at 9:00 AM, at 100 South Russell Street, with the Honorable Judge Jack Freedle presiding. Portland Municipal Court hears certain traffic, animal, and property code violations. Questions about fines and fees, should be directed to the Business Office at 615-325-6776 ext. 555.
