Established in 1971, there are 2 local parks in Portland, Richland Park (history) and Meadowbrook Park. The City of Portland Parks and Recreation Department provides a variety of recreational services, programs and special events for the community. We strive to identify the needs and desires of all citizens, and provide services that will improve quality of life, protect the environment, and improve the aesthetics of the community.
Richland Park, an active park, offers a community center, gymnasium, public swimming pool, paved and lighted hike and bike trail, soccer fields, football fields, baseball fields, softball fields, picnic shelters and playgrounds. Meadowbrook Park is a more passive park, with a walking trail, picnic shelters, lighted basketball and tennis courts, sand volleyball, and a lighted skate park.
